Manchester United are believed to be open to letting stars, who are not making an impact in the first-team right now, leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window. As a result of having a very deep squad, there are several players at Old Trafford right now, who have not gotten playing time regularly this season thus far. And thus, it should not come as a surprise if a few of them are looking for exits in January.

Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho last summer, increasing the competition for places in the forward department significantly. Their arrivals have seemingly resulted in players like Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani dropping down the pecking order.

Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been replaced by Ralf Rangnick in the managerial hot seat, the overall situation has not improved a lot for some players. And in search of regular game time, some stars could leave the club as early as the upcoming January transfer window.

As reported by Sky Sports, Martial prefers to join Sevilla if he is to leave Manchester United next month. It must be pointed out that Juventus and Barcelona have been linked with the Frenchman as well.

Martial prefers to leave Manchester United for Sevilla

Signed from AS Monaco in 2015, Martial was one of the most coveted youngsters across Europe back then. And following the 2019/20 season, which he finished as the club’s top scorer, the Frenchman was considered the long-term solution at striker.

However, for more than a year, Martial’s performances have been far from convincing. And he has endured quite a few injury issues as well.

There were hopes that he could turn it around this season but the 26-year-old has struggled in 2021/22 as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Martial has scored just once in 10 appearances in this campaign.

While he has been linked with more prominent names, Sevilla, who are currently second in the La Liga points table, could be a great option for Martial when it comes to getting consistent playing time.
