Barcelona have been linked with quite a few Manchester United stars in recent times as the Spanish giants need to rebuild, having been knocked out from the Champions League in the group stage itself and they sit at 7th in the La Liga table right now. On the other hand, quite a few players at Old Trafford are being linked with exits, having not played a lot of first-team football this season till now.

Edinson Cavani is one of them. The Uruguayan striker had enjoyed a great 2020/21 campaign after arriving as a free agent and was expected to be the main striker for Manchester United this season.

But the return of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and his own injury problems have meant that he has barely featured this season. As a result, Barcelona have been rumoured to be a possible destination for him for a while now.

And as reported by SPORT, Barcelona have already reached an agreement in principle with Cavani to sign him for a season and a half.

It will be interesting to see whether Cavani does end up leaving Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window.

As he showed last season, at the top of his game, he still has a lot to offer to the Red Devils. But with the amount of depth that Manchester United have in their squad at the moment, Cavani leaving would not be a massive blow for them.

Right now, they have Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial in their squad capable of playing up top. On the other hand, Cavani has barely featured in the first-team this season.

Yet, Cavani could be a massive addition for Barcelona at the moment, as they do need a reliable goalscorer in their team.
