Manchester United have a number of players who could be looking for an exit in the upcoming January transfer window in search of regular playing time after struggling at Old Trafford this season. This is where Newcastle United could come into play. The Magpies are expected to splash out next month as they aim to stay up in the Premier League after the club’s massive takeover recently. At the moment, they are in the relegation zone.
Anthony Martial is one player who appears to be looking to leave Manchester United next month. He has struggled with form, fitness and playing time this season.
Once considered one of the most important players at Manchester United, he has slid down the pecking order in recent years. And he could definitely do with a change in scenery at the moment.
And as reported by The Sun, Newcastle United want to make Martial their first big-name arrival of next month. And they are willing to shell out a hefty loan fee of around £6 million for him.
Newcastle want Manchester United star as their first big-name arrival
When Manchester United had signed Martial back in 2015, he was expected to become one of the best players in the world one day. And the transfer fee that AS Monaco received from the Red Devils was the highest paid for a teenager at that point of time.
Martial’s time at Manchester United has been up and down to say the least though. He was absolutely brilliant in the 2019/20 campaign, finishing as their top scorer. But since then, he has not been able to recapture his form and has struggled in front of goal.
As a result, a move away from Old Trafford looks likely at this point, with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood ahead of him in the pecking order.
