Manchester United will look to strengthen their midfield department sooner or later, as the clouds of uncertainty hover over the futures of players like Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard. Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata are also no longer in their primes. As a result, their time at Old Trafford might possibly come to an end soon as well.
Manchester United were believed to be interested in signing a midfielder last summer. But unfortunately, they could not sign one.
With Ralf Rangnick arriving at the club though, first as interim manager and then in a consultancy role, Manchester United could look to rebuild the team’s midfield department and add some new names to it soon.
As reported by The Athletic (via Daily Mail), Manchester United will turn to Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara, who will become a free agent next summer unless he agrees a new deal with the Ligue 1 giants by then.
Manchester United interested in Marseille’s Kamara
The highly sought-after defensive midfielder could leave France for a different challenge next summer when his contract with Marseille runs out. There is also an opportunity to sign him on a pre-contract.
Several Premier League clubs including Manchester United, as well as Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been mentioned as possible destinations for Kamara.
Having come through the youth ranks at Marseille, the 22-year-old midfielder, who is also capable of playing as a centre-back, has already played more than 100 matches for the French side, and has been impressive enough to catch the eye of several European giants.
With Pogba’s contract running out next summer while Van de Beek is being linked with an exit as well, Kamara could be a solid addition to this Manchester United team. Of course, it won’t be easy to sign him as some of the biggest clubs in the world are believed to be interested in his signature.
