Manchester United’s €14 million transfer bid was turned down
Manchester United enjoyed a brilliant summer transfer window, signing players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. But there were also a couple of moves that they were not able to pull off, which is understandable. It was believed that they were looking for a right-back and one player that they were heavily linked with was Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.
Having experience of playing in the Premier League as well as being a La Liga champion with Atletico Madrid, it is not hard to see why Manchester United might have been interested in Trippier.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the regular right-back at the club since joining in the summer of 2019 but questions have been asked about him going forward. And the Trippier rumours dragged on for a while but ultimately nothing transpired.
Now, it looks like Manchester United had even made a transfer bid around €14 million for Trippier, which was turned down by Atletico Madrid. Newcastle United are now being linked with the English international as Fabrizio Romano tweeted out:

Trippier could have been a solid addition to this Manchester United side but now, it looks like things are working out for the club at right-back anyway.
Diogo Dalot has come into the first-team picture since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager and it is safe to say that he is making quite an impression. Thus, it does look like there could be some genuine competition for the right-back spot at Old Trafford now.
On the other hand, Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Trippier. The Magpies are expected to make a splash in the upcoming January transfer window as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League. It remains to be seen how things turn out.
