There are several players at Manchester United who have not gotten enough minutes on the pitch this season and one has to feel that it might have been better for them to go out on loan in the summer. One player who did leave on a temporary basis though is Andreas Pereira. And it is safe to say that he has had an eventful time in Brazil while playing for Flamengo.

Pereira was one of the most highly-rated youngsters while coming through the youth ranks at Manchester United and many believed that he could go on to become a first-team regular. That did not happen, as he was unable to nail down his spot in the starting XI.

He spent several seasons out on loan as well while never quite making a huge mark anywhere. He has appeared to come into his own at Flamengo though.

And Pereira has admitted that he wants to remain at the club beyond this season. As reported by ESPN Brazil, the Manchester United loanee said:

"“My desire has always been to stay here at Flamengo, and now we are going to do everything. We are going to talk to President Landim and Marcos Braz to make this possible.”"

It remains to be seen if a move does indeed happen. Flamengo will have to agree a transfer fee with Manchester United if they do indeed want to sign Pereira on a permanent basis.

This loan spell has certainly helped the player though. His chances of getting regular playing time at Old Trafford were pretty slim but he has gotten that at Flamengo and put it to good use.

In fact, he has even rediscovered himself as a player, playing in a deeper role in midfield and shining there at times.

For all of his good form though, he did make a big mistake in the Copa Libertadores final, which Flamengo ended up losing and thus, Pereira might feel that he has unfinished business at the club.

It will be interesting to see whether Pereira will remain a Manchester United player come next season.
