A number of players are expected to leave Manchester United over the upcoming transfer windows after struggling for minutes at Old Trafford this season. The arrival of Ralf Rangnick might give many of them a fresh start though and potentially change their situation at the club. It remains to be seen what happens regarding that, but it does look like it has already handed Jose Mourinho a transfer blow.
Mourinho is currently the manager of AS Roma, whose form has faded away recently after a great start to the season under the Portuguese manager.
As a result, they are expected to be looking to strengthen their squad further and one player that they were believed to have an eye on is Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot, who had arrived at Old Trafford during Mourinho’s time as manager.
Until recently, the Portuguese right-back had barely featured for the Red Devils this season and was expected to depart the club soon. As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Dalot was AS Roma’s first choice until a few weeks ago but with the arrival of Rangnick, he is back to playing continuously and Manchester United are reflecting on his situation.
Mourinho handed Dalot transfer blow by Manchester United
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the regular starter at right-back for Manchester United since arriving at the club. But recently, he has picked up a few injuries, which have kept him out of the side.
That has allowed Dalot to come into the starting XI and he has taken his chance with both hands. The Portuguese full-back has been excellent and surely must have made an impression on Rangnick. Also, there is a feeling that he might be a better fit for the German’s system than Wan-Bissaka.
Thus, it does feel unlikely that Manchester United would let Dalot leave in the near future.
