Midfield is an area that Manchester United need to improve in. And Kalvin Phillips is a player that they have been linked with for quite some time now. The Leeds United star has enjoyed a brilliant rise in recent years, even becoming a big part of the England national team and he played a huge role in their run to the final of UEFA EURO 2020 in the summer. Thus, it is safe to say that he is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in English football right now.
Manchester United are not the only club interested in a potential move for Phillips though. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder as well.
And it looks like the Leeds United star might have made a decision on his future, which will hand Manchester United’s plans a big blow.
As reported by The Sun, Phillips is ready to snub Manchester United transfer for a move to Liverpool. It is believed that he is unwilling to upset the Leeds United fans by making a switch to Old Trafford and feels they would be much more accepting of a move to Anfield.
Manchester United handed Phillips transfer blow
It looks like Manchester United have been handed a major Phillips transfer blow. The Leeds United star could have been a solid addition to their midfield but now, it looks like a move might not be on the cards.
The Red Devils have been linked with several other midfielders in recent times though, with names like Declan Rice, Amadou Haidara and many others being brought up.
It will be interesting to see who they end up signing in the future. But one thing is for sure, Manchester United do need to make an addition in the middle of the park if they are to progress as a team.
