Erling Haaland is arguably the most exciting talent in world football right now and he has been linked with a move to almost every European giant including Manchester United. The Norwegian has been nothing short of sensational over the past few years and it is believed that a release clause will become active in his contract next summer. Thus, a transfer race could well and truly be on.

And when or if that does happen, one can expect Manchester United to be very much in the mix. That does not mean that they do not have exciting young forwards of their own though.

Mason Greenwood is one of them. Despite having recently turned 20 years of age, he has already made over 100 senior appearances for the Red Devils and many believe that he has the talent to become one of the best players in the world if he can fulfil his potential.

Ralf Rangnick was recently asked how Greenwood compares to Haaland and as reported by the Mirror, the Manchester United interim manager said:

"“They are a different kind of striker. Erling, for me, is a target striker, who can play as a single striker like a target man or together with another striker in a 4-4-2.“I think Mason is more of a nine-and-a-half. He can play as a striker, he can also come from the wing, he can play together with another striker and he’s very technical. Left foot, right foot.”"

Rangnick compares Manchester United star to Haaland

When it comes to versatility, Rangnick appears to give the edge to Greenwood over Haaland. And it is safe to say that the Manchester United youngster has certainly put that to good use already, playing in several roles for the club.

Overall, based on impact, there is no question that Haaland is ahead at this point of time. At the age of 21, he is already one of the best players in the world and has proven himself in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 74 goals and provided 26 assists in 76 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. That is extraordinary for any player on the planet.

If there is any opportunity to bring Haaland to Old Trafford in the future, Manchester United should not think twice before making a move.
