Manchester United have one of the best squads in the world right now. And while this is great for any club to have, it has also resulted in several players not getting the playing time that they must have been looking for coming into the season. The upcoming game against Young Boys is a great opportunity to give some playing time to these players though, with the Red Devils already having booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

There will still be quite a bit to play for though, with Young Boys having won the reverse fixture. Thus, Manchester United must be keen to get the win on this occasion.

Also, this is a great opportunity for Ralf Rangnick to give a run out to some of the players in order to see what he is working with. And it looks like he might be looking to do just that.

As reported by Manchester United’s official website, in the press conference leading up to the game, Rangnick confirmed that Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek will start the game.

This is a big opportunity for both Van de Beek and Henderson to make an impression on the German coach.

Van de Beek arrived at the club from Ajax in the summer of 2020 with high expectations behind him. Things did not work out as he would have expected though. The Dutch international was unable to make his mark at Manchester United and has spent the majority of his time sitting on the bench.

On the other hand, in the second half of last season, it had looked like Henderson had managed to become the club’s first choice between the posts ahead of David de Gea. But the Spaniard has rediscovered his best form this season, resulting in the English goalkeeper not getting too many chances.
