Ralf Rangnick made a winning start to life as Manchester United interim manager with a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace. While the margin might not suggest so, the Red Devils looked dominant on this occasion and it could have easily been a bigger win for them. Ultimately though, a wonderful goal from Fred was enough to hand them all three points.

Of course, this is just the beginning for Rangnick and this could be just a case of new manager bounce. But the performance was very promising on this occasion.

While things might not have been perfect, there is a lot to be positive about coming out of the game and heading into the future.

And following their recent run of form, winning three and drawing one of their previous four games across all competitions, there are hopes that Manchester United will make a run for the top four.

Manchester United: 3 huge positives from Ralf Rangnick’s first game

Here are three huge positives from Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge of Manchester United, as the interim manager made a winning start vs Crystal Palace:

Fred is showing tremendous improvement

Fred is a player who has had a lot of critics over the years. While the Brazilian midfielder has shown glimpses of how good he can be, he has never quite been able to perform at his best on a consistent basis.

Yet, he has continued to play a vital role in Manchester United’s first-team. And that has not changed this season.

At this point of time, it is clear that Manchester United could do with more options in midfield. But Fred’s recent form is a huge boost in that regard as well.

He has been performing quite well for several weeks now and this time around, he managed to score the winner with a wonderful strike and hand Rangnick all three points in his first game in charge.
