Manchester United have had their fair share of managerial problems this season. After a disappointing start to the campaign, they parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after almost three years in the Old Trafford hot seat. Michael Carrick is the caretaker manager for the time being but Ralf Rangnick has already been announced as the club’s interim manager till the end of the season.

But Manchester United are not the only club that have made a change though. Aston Villa are another.

Aston Villa showed Dean Smith the exit door last month after a series of defeats and brought in Steven Gerrard from the Rangers to replace him. And while the club have looked much more solid since then, the Liverpool legend’s arrival has not been good news for one Manchester United player.

That man is Axel Tuanzebe. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa and was having a decent time at the club before Gerrard’s arrival. In his first three matches as manager, the defender has been left on the bench as an unused substitute in all of them.

These are still early days for Gerrard as Aston Villa manager and one can only hope that Tuanzebe eventually breaks into his plans. The signs till now have not been promising though.

The thing about Tuanzebe is that there has never been any question about his talent or potential. His performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last season showed how good he can be on top of his game.

He is a natural leader as well and has already captained Manchester United in the past. But for one reason or the other, things have just not fallen into place for him till now. And it looks like that might end up continuing at Aston Villa as well.
