Erling Haaland is a dream signing for almost every top club around Europe right now, including Manchester United. We have already seen him being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer which ultimately did not materialise and they signed Romelu Lukaku, who has not enjoyed a great start at Stamford Bridge. Next summer though, a release clause is believed to become active in the Norwegian’s contract.

Haaland has been nothing short of unbelievable ever since signing for Borussia Dortmund. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 71 goals and provided 26 assists in 73 appearances across all competitions.

Thus, a number of European giants are expected to try and make a move for Haaland next summer, and it is not hard to understand why.

Manchester United are one of the teams who had been linked with him for quite some time with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer connection expected to help them. The Norwegian manager has departed now but Ralf Rangnick could play a big role as well.

Manchester United might be handed Haaland boost by Rangnick

As tweeted by Christian Falk, Rangnick will try to convince Haaland regarding a transfer to Manchester United. The German had helped RB Salzburg get the striker in the past and is close to his father, Alf-Inge.

Thus, while many viewed Solskjaer’s departure as a blow when it comes to a potential race to sign Haaland, that might not be the case after all.

The bigger issue though might be convincing the striker about the project at Old Trafford. The club have not won a trophy in four seasons now and have not made a good start this time around either. Thus, with Haaland expected to have several top options to pick from, it is hard to see him choosing Manchester United at this point of time unless they finish the season really strong.
