It is no secret that Manchester United find themselves in a bad spot at this point of time. Their Champions League season has been good all things considered but one cannot say the same about their domestic run till now. The Red Devils currently sit at 9th in the Premier League table, while they are also out of the League Cup. Thus, it was not a huge surprise when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was shown the exit door.

Michael Carrick finds himself as the club’s caretaker manager right now, while Ralf Rangnick is expected to be appointed as their interim manager till the end of the season soon.

It is understandable why there is not a lot of excitement around Old Trafford at the moment but it is safe to say that the season is far from over and Manchester United could easily still turn it around.

Cesar Azpilicueta is someone who experienced something similar last season. Chelsea parted ways with Frank Lampard in the middle of the campaign only for them to go on to win the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel. Thus, he will know that Manchester United are far from down and out despite Solskjaer’s departure. As reported by The Sun, the Spaniard said:

"“In both cases, they are playing legends and they feel the club a lot and you want the best for your club.“Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. They were not good times. We were in a bad position.“In January we were far from winning the league but we were in the last 16 of the Champions League.“The new manager arrived with his staff and we tried to get results as we knew we didn’t have a lot of room for mistakes.“But we knew that the season wasn’t over.“Something Chelsea has shown over the years is we win trophies and, even when in a bad moment, we can come back really quick.”"

Can Manchester United turn their season around?

Turning the season around after the start that they have endured will not be easy for Manchester United. But we are still in the month of November, and time is definitely on their side.

Even under the management of Solskjaer, we had seen the club make a turnaround in the 2019/20 campaign, and finish the season in third. There is no reason that they could not do something similar this time around.

In fact, the Manchester United squad is probably much better now than it was back then. Let’s see how things unfold from here on forward.
