Manchester United were expected to challenge for the Premier League title this season. They had finished second in the 2020/21 campaign and had added the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to that squad. It is safe to say that the Red Devils have not been able to meet those expectations and appear to be already in need of rebuild. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was shown the exit door after the 4-1 defeat against Watford left them sitting at 8th.
For the time being, Michael Carrick is the caretaker manager but it is looking like Ralf Rangnick is set to arrive as the interim manager until the end of the season soon.
When his six-month spell as interim manager comes to an end, Rangnick would take a consultancy role with Manchester United for a couple of years.
And it looks like there could be some changes made as early as January. As reported by The Telegraph, Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson could leave Manchester United in January as part of Rangnick rebuild.
Manchester United duo could leave in January as part of Rangnick rebuild
Van de Beek arrived at Manchester United with a lot of expectations in the summer of 2020. He had enjoyed a great spell at Ajax and many believed was ready to be a part of the Red Devils’ starting XI on a consistent basis. It is safe to say that things have not turned out that way and he has barely featured this season.
On the other hand, at one point of time last season, it had looked like Manchester United had found their long-term goalkeeper in Henderson. But David de Gea’s brilliant form has kept him out of the playing XI this season.
As a result, it looks like the duo, despite their unquestionable potential, could head out of Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens in January.
