Jurgen Klopp’s Ralf Rangnick claim will excite Manchester United fans

Manchester United appear to be closing in on appointing Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager of the club, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s recent exit. Michael Carrick was the caretaker manager for the game against Villarreal but it looks like the Red Devils will bring the German in soon in order to guide the team until the end of the season.

Of course, Rangnick is one of the most important managers in modern football, having played a big hand in shaping the Gegenpressing philosophy, which has brought so many managers success in recent years.

Rangnick has influenced the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann, just to name a few. That reads like a who’s who when it comes to modern football managers. And while his own managerial career might not have brought as much success as some of those he has influenced, he has had notable stints at Schalke 04, RB Leipzig and several other clubs.

Klopp clearly appears to be a big fan of Rangnick. As reported by the Mirror, the Liverpool manager has described him as:

"“One of the best, if not the best German coach.”"

Germany has produced some of the best managers in recent years. In fact, the past three managers to win the UEFA Champions League are German – Tuchel with Chelsea, Hansi Flick with Bayern Munich and Klopp with Liverpool.

Thus, if Rangnick is on that same level, then it is safe to say that Manchester United could be about to pull off an absolute masterstroke.

Of course, if the move ends up happening, it would be the biggest job of Rangnick’s managerial career. And it will be interesting to see how he performs in that situation. But till now, it is safe to say that there has been nothing but praise for the German manager and Manchester United fans should be excited about what is to come in the future.
