Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job following the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Of course, it is not the first time, when it comes to the Argentine manager. He has been linked with the Old Trafford hot seat several times in the past, going as far back as when he was the Tottenham Hotspur manager, but it has never quite materialised till now.

At first, it was believed that he was targeted as the long-term replacement for Jose Mourinho, but Solskjaer’s success led him to getting the job on a permanent basis. Then, Pochettino was linked again when the club were struggling at the start of last season, but they managed to steady the ship after that and it did not happen that time either.

Right now, he is the Paris Saint-Germain manager and has one of the best squads in world football. But some rumours have suggested that he would be open to leaving the club in the middle of the season in order to join Manchester United.

Of course, the French giants appear to have other ideas. As reported by ESPN, Manchester United have had an initial enquiry about the immediate availability of Pochettino knocked back by Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG knock back Manchester United’s Pochettino enquiry

Pochettino’s current deal with Paris Saint-Germain is believed to run till the summer of 2023. As a result, the French giants would be in no hurry to let him leave unless they can find a suitable replacement first.

Interestingly, some rumours have linked them with a potential move for Zinedine Zidane but one has to wonder whether the Frenchman would be open to taking the role in the middle of the campaign.

When it comes to Pochettino, questions have been raised about his future as well, as Paris Saint-Germain have not managed to hit the heights that they were expected to at the start of the season.
