The managerial situation at Manchester United is very interesting right now to say the least. Michael Carrick finds himself in charge of the team as the caretaker manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was shown the exit door following their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford, which kept the club sitting at 8th in the Premier League. Now, it is believed that the Red Devils are looking for an interim manager to guide the team until the end of the season.
While things can change very quickly in football and if the right manager became available, they might make the long-term appointment earlier than expected.
But for now, it feels like the plan is to bring in an interim manager till the end of the campaign. This will allow Manchester United to go after one of their top managerial targets next summer, as it is believed that many of them would be reluctant to come in in the middle of the season.
The club appear to have already started their search. As reported by The National, Rudi Garcia has been interviewed by Manchester United for the position of interim manager.
Manchester United interview Garcia for interim role
Garcia has had an extensive career as a manager and has been at some big clubs till now like AS Roma, Marseille, Lyon, Lille and others.
If Manchester United brought him in, he will come with a lot of experience and could prove to be a solid choice to guide the team till the end of the season. But unless they end up doing exceedingly well, he does not feel like a long-term solution for the Red Devils.
Managers like Mauricio Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane, Erik ten Hag and a few others have been linked with the club in recent times.
When it comes to the interim role, it would be wrong to count out Carrick, if the team continue to perform like they did against Villarreal.
