Manchester United are expected to bring in an interim manager following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in order to guide the team till the end of the season. After that, the Red Devils are expected to go after one of their long-term targets, as it is believed that a number of them might not be interested in taking charge in the middle of the campaign.

Thus, it is certainly an interesting situation to say the least. And it remains to be seen who the club end up going for.

Of course, it would be a mistake to count out caretaker manager Michael Carrick’s chances of getting the role if Manchester United continue to impress under him, like they did against Villarreal away in Spain, with a 2-0 victory.

But it looks like the club already have their eyes on quite a few managers, as the rumours continue to link several with the interim job at Old Trafford.

The former Manchester United star was one of the most exciting managers in all of Europe a while back. But things have slowed down for him significantly after the end of his successful spell with Paris Saint-Germain.

While he won quite a few trophies during his time with the French giants, he did not end up at another top European club after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Instead, he spent quite some time out of management and now finds himself at Qatari side, Al-Rayyan.

Laurent Blanc has been linked with the interim role at Manchester United though and considering his past experience of playing for the club, as well as his past experience of managing a top European club, he could be a solid choice.
