Manchester United parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford which saw them slip down to 8th in the Premier League table. And Michael Carrick has been handed the charge of the team until they find an interim manager, who can lead them until the end of the season. Thus, it looks like the club do not have the intention of making a long-term decision before next summer.
Several names have been linked with the interim role that appears to be up for grabs at Old Trafford at the moment. One of them is former Manchester United star, Laurent Blanc.
Blanc had a spell at Manchester United during his playing career, when Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager and even won a Premier League title. And not too long ago, he was one of the most highly-rated managers in all of Europe but things have certainly slowed down for him since his spell at Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.
But as reported by Football Insider, Manchester United will hold preliminary talks with Blanc to see if he has an interest in taking over for the rest of the season. And he will be told that there is a chance that he could get the role permanently if he makes an excellent impression.
Huge Blanc to Manchester United update emerges
While most Manchester United fans would probably want the club to bring in a long-term replacement as soon as possible, it does look like the Red Devils are looking to bring in an interim manager till the end of the season before going for a long-term solution in the summer when more options are available.
In that case, Blanc is a solid option to bring in till the end of the season. He is currently the manager of Qatari side Al-Rayyan.
The French manager has a lot of experience of managing at the top level and winning trophies with Paris Saint-Germain as well as Bordeaux. And he also knows what Manchester United is all about.
