Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s near three-year run as Manchester United manager has come to an end after the club suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford at Vicarage Road, leaving them sitting at eighth in the Premier League table. That is a far away from the start of the campaign, when many fans expected the Red Devils to mount a title challenge after signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane over the summer.

Now, the club have decided to take an interesting approach to things. Michael Carrick will be taking charge of the team until they find an interim manager to guide them till the end of the season.

That means that they will look for a long-term solution next summer and it will be very interesting to see who they end up going for, if plans remain the same by that point of time.

What will be equally interesting to see though is who they end up going for when it comes to the interim manager role at Manchester United.

Manchester United: 3 best interim manager options

Here are the three best options for Manchester United as they search for an interim manager, after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:

Ralf Rangnick

One of the most influential managers in world football today, Ralf Rangnick has been linked with Manchester United as a potential interim manager for a while now.

Rangnick is one of the people who shaped the Gegenpressing style of football which has risen to prominence in recent years. And the German is believed to have had an influence on the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann and many others. That reads like a who’s who of modern football management.

It is not hard to see why Rangnick could be an excellent choice to be the club’s next interim manager. But then, it is believed that he could look for a football role afterwards as well.
