Manchester United have finally decided to make a change in their managerial hot seat after a disappointing start to the season which sees them sit at eighth in the Premier League. The club decided to show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the exit door after their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford. Michael Carrick will take charge of the team for the forthcoming games while they look to bring in an interim manager till the end of the season.

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal. The club were reluctant to make a change and understandably so. Solskjaer is a club legend and all things considered, did a good job in his near three-year run as Manchester United manager, although the last few months might not have been great.

A large portion of the fan base might have wanted the club to make a change after their start to the season, but one can have nothing but respect for what Solskjaer has done throughout the years for Manchester United, both as a player and a manager.

Conor McGregor, who is a Manchester United supporter, paid a beautiful tribute to the manager as he tweeted out:

It is safe to say that the atmosphere around Manchester United has not been the most pleasant in recent months.

Solskjaer was even booed after the game against Watford when he went to the away fans to thank them and held up his hands in an apologetic manner.

But Solskjaer’s incredible career at Manchester United will not be defined by these last few months as manager. He is interlinked with too many legendary moments in the club’s history for that to happen.

Thank you, Ole. And best of luck for the future.
