It was a huge surprise when Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a return to Manchester United in the summer. For most of the transfer window, it had not looked like such a move was on the cards, but late on, the Red Devils moved quickly to bring back the Portuguese superstar. It is safe to say that he was welcomed back with open arms by the fans but he has not had the effect on this team that was expected.

Many felt that Ronaldo’s arrival turned Manchester United into one of the favourites for the Premier League. And while he has been in great form since arriving, things have not gone the Red Devils’ way as a team.

At the moment, they sit at sixth in the Premier League table and have not looked like a side that can challenge for the title, judging from their one-sided defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Manchester City.

It is expected that he would not be happy with the situation. And as reported by Independent, Ronaldo has been complaining to former Manchester United teammates about how things have been going under Solskjaer and naturally comparing them to the good old days.

Manchester United enjoyed a brilliant summer transfer window this time around, signing not only Ronaldo, but Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton as well.

The team had already finished second in the Premier League last season and with these additions, it was believed that they would be challenging the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea in the title race.

We are still very early in the season and that could still be the case. But for that to happen, Manchester United will have to turn the tables around as quickly as possible and go on a great run of results.
