Manchester United managed to keep the core of their squad together over the summer while making additions like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton to their ranks as well. And while that was seen as a huge boost for the club, it has also resulted in quite a few of their players not getting minutes on the pitch.

As a result, future transfer windows could turn out to be very different for Manchester United and a several players could end up leaving. One of those players could very well be Jesse Lingard.

Lingard enjoyed a tremendous loan spell at West Ham United last season and expectations were high that he could be in line for regular minutes at Old Trafford this time around. That has not been the case though and according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 8 appearances and featured for 154 minutes for Manchester United this season.

With his contract set to run out next summer, he has naturally been linked with a move away and Lingard might have possibly dropped a transfer hint on his Instagram.

Lingard shared a picture of himself celebrating one of his goals for West Ham United on his Instagram story.

Interestingly, he has been heavily linked with a move back to West Ham United, either this January or next summer.

With his contract set to run out next summer, he will be a free agent then. On the other hand, could West Ham United try to sign him for a smaller transfer fee in January than what he was rated at in the summer?

At the end of the day, Lingard has played very little football this season and his current deal is set to run out at the end of the campaign as well. Thus, such a move would make a lot of sense for Manchester United.
