Manchester United find themselves in a tricky position right now. The club have not made the start to the season that the fans had expected. Currently, they find themselves sitting at sixth in the Premier League table and are already out of the League Cup as well. And as a result, there is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the moment, with his future now up in the air.

Also, there are several players who could be headed for the Old Trafford exit soon. Some of their contracts are coming to an end at the end of the season while others have not got the playing time that they would have been hoping for.

For Jesse Lingard, it has been both. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has played only 154 minutes of football over 8 appearances this season. And his current deal is set to run out next summer.

Thus, Lingard has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford for a while. And as reported by ESPN, contract talks with the club have broken down, as he has decided to shelve them due to a continued lack of playing time.

At the start of the campaign, Lingard was expected to play a big role at Manchester United after his tremendous loan spell at West Ham United last season.

In the second half of the previous campaign, Lingard had joined the Hammers on a half-a-season loan and it is safe to say that he played some of his best football there and was easily one of the best players in the Premier League during that period of time.

Now back at Manchester United, he has found first-team minutes hard to come by. As a result, an Old Trafford exit could lie in his future.
