When Manchester United signed Raphael Varane in the summer from Real Madrid, it was considered as a major coup on the part of the club. Although the Red Devils had appeared to improve at the back in recent times, it was still seen as a weakness for them. The arrival of the French World Cup winner was expected to turn their defence into one of the best in the Premier League though.

It is safe to say that that has not been the case till now. Manchester United have been able to keep just two clean sheets this season till now across all competitions and they have conceded the most number of goals in the Premier League top ten at the moment.

When it comes to Varane, he just has not been able to get it going having already picked up a couple of injuries. The first one kept him out for a while but he made an impressive comeback against Tottenham Hotspur. But then, he picked up an injury in the very next game against Atalanta, which has kept him out of action since then.

It is safe to say that Manchester United have missed the French defender, as they continue to struggle at the back. Varane though, has provided a positive update on his injury comeback.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Varane posted a picture of him training on Instagram, with the caption reading:

"“Turn frustration into motivation and come back stronger!”"

It has been a frustrating start for Varane at Manchester United to say the least. He has not been able to make his mark individually, while the team around him have struggled as well, finding themselves sitting at sixth in the Premier League table right now.

That is disappointing for a team that was expected to compete for the Premier League title this season.

Let’s just hope that they can turn their season around soon, while Varane also returns to the pitch and finally finds his feet in a Manchester United shirt.
