Manchester United find themselves in a sticky situation at this point of time. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been the manager of the club for nearly three years now and there is a clear reluctance to part ways with him. But it is undeniable that the Red Devils have made a very disappointing start to the season and if the Norwegian is not able to turn things around quickly, they might have no other choice but to make a change in the managerial hot seat.
Rumours have picked up pace over the past few weeks with Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and many others being linked with the role.
It remains to be seen what will happen regarding that matter. And things could certainly get interesting very quickly.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, the Manchester United board has made no decision over Solskjaer’s future and for now, he is expected to be in the dugout when they face Watford, but the situation may change very fast.
Manchester United have made no Solskjaer decision but situation seems open
The managerial situation at Old Trafford seems very open at the moment. Of course, the best case scenario would involve Solskjaer steadying the ship and getting them back in the Premier League title race.
If results don’t improve, they might have very few options but to show Solskjaer the exit door. But then, that comes with its own problems.
It will be difficult to find a replacement for him in the middle of the season, with most of the managers that the club have been linked with already managing somewhere else at the moment. Thus, it is very possible that Manchester United might have to look towards an interim manager till the end of the season if it came down to that.
Let’s see how things unfold. Manchester United face Watford next, in the Premier League.
