Manchester United’s defence has been shaky at best till now, this season. Despite adding Raphael Varane to the squad in the summer, the Red Devils have conceded way too many goals and have only been able to keep two clean sheets this season, at this point of time. In fact, they have conceded more goals than any other team in the Premier League top ten.
Some players have kept their place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI throughout the season though. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of them. Whether it be as a right-back or a right wing-back, he has been the man the Norwegian manager has trusted.
And there is no question that Wan-Bissaka is a brilliant defender. However, questions have been raised about him going forward.
Manchester United do have an alternative available in the form Diogo Dalot, but the versatile full-back has not featured much for the Red Devils. Wan-Bissaka has rarely not started for Solskjaer’s side. And thus, the Portuguese international might look for a way out of Old Trafford in the future.
Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma being linked with the Manchester United full-back
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Dalot is waiting for a concrete offer to leave Manchester United. Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma are being heavily linked with the Portuguese full-back.
Dalot joined Manchester United in the summer of 2018 when Mourinho was at the manager of the club. And it remains to be seen if the two end up having a reunion at AS Roma.
Last season, Dalot was on loan at AC Milan and did a good job there. As a result, he already has a decent experience of Italian football and could prove to be a solid signing for AS Roma. Now, it remains to be seen if the club can sign him from Manchester United.
