Manchester United find themselves in a very tough spot right now with regards to the managerial situation at the club. On one hand, it is clear that there is a reluctance to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has held the role for almost three years now. But on the other hand, they have made a disappointing start to the season and currently sit at sixth in the Premier League table. Thus, if things don’t improve soon, they might have no choice but to make a change.
One has to remember that coming into the season, Manchester United were expected to be in the Premier League title race. As a result, it is natural that there are a lot of questions surrounding Solskjaer’s Old Trafford future.
It remains to be seen whether he remains the manager for much longer or not. That is unclear at the moment. But it does look like one thing that is clear is Manchester United’s January transfer plan.
As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United will not be splashing the cash in January to rescue their season as the club’s owners do not feel that spending big will solve the Red Devils’ issues.
Manchester United will not be spending big in the January transfer window
To be honest, that is a fair decision. The club made significant investments in the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton.
At the time, that was considered as one of the best transfer windows in the club’s history and was expected to transform Manchester United into immediate title contenders. That has not looked like the case till now though.
In fact, it has appeared that the club have taken a step back in multiple areas. Thus, it remains to be seen if the club can turn it around after the international break. But otherwise, the future does not look bright for Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
