Zinedine Zidane would be almost a dream managerial appointment for Manchester United, if they ended up parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the near future. The Frenchman is one of the greatest to have played the game of football, and he proved himself to be a brilliant manager as well over his two stints at Real Madrid.

During his first stint, he took over a Real Madrid side that was struggling and steadied the ship to the point where they would go on to win three straight UEFA Champions League titles, solidifying themselves as one of the greatest club sides in history. And while his second stint might not have brought similar success, it was solid considering the circumstances.

At the moment, Zidane is without a club, having left Real Madrid at the end of last season, which will make him an even more tempting target for Manchester United.

His situation has been confusing though as some rumours have suggested that he is not interested in the Old Trafford job while others have suggested that he is keeping an eye on the situation. Journalist Rudy Galetti has provided a huge update though as he tweeted out earlier:

It remains to be seen how things unfold from here on but it looks like Manchester United are trying to see if there is a possibility of anything happening in the middle of the season.

One advantage that appointing Zidane has over other managers who have been linked with the Red Devils like Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag, is that the Frenchman is without a club at the moment.

For the time being, Solskjaer remains in the Old Trafford hot seat though and the best case scenario would involve him turning the season around and getting the team to challenge for titles.
