Erik ten Hag is one of the managers who has been linked with the Manchester United job in recent times and it is easy to see why. He is one of the most exciting managers in world football right now and has done a tremendous job at Ajax over the past few years. Thus, if the Red Devils did decide to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the future, someone like the Dutchman could potentially prove to be a brilliant replacement.

Ten Hag first rose to prominence a few years back when he guided Ajax to an unlikely spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. And the Dutch side were moments away from making it all the way through to the finals before a late goal from Tottenham Hotspur knocked them out of the competition.

It was a brilliant effort though. And this time around, they are doing well in Europe once again, having won all four of their Champions League group stage games till now and in dominant fashion.

As a result, Ten Hag has been linked with not just Manchester United but several other clubs as well. As reported by the Mirror, when asked about what he is looking for after his time at Ajax, the manager told ESPN:

"“I live in the present, so I find it hard to answer this.“I always want to improve my team, and as long as I feel this motivation I want to keep going, if Ajax wants that too.”"

It remains to be seen what happens regarding the managerial situation at Manchester United. But it is safe to say that if things don’t improve quickly, the club might have no other choice but to part ways with Solskjaer and make a change in the Old Trafford hot seat.

If that was to happen, someone like Ten Hag has the potential to be a brilliant manger for the club, considering the work that he has done at Ajax.

Of course, there will be an element of risk associated with any move as well, considering that he has never managed a big team outside of Netherlands.
