With the Manchester United managerial situation completely up in the air right now after their disappointing start to the season despite signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane over the summer, one of the managers who has been linked with the Old Trafford job is Zinedine Zidane. And that should not come as a surprise to anybody.

Zidane is one of the greatest players in the history of football and then he showed his quality as a manager as well over his two stints at Real Madrid.

He guided the Spanish giants to a historic Champions League hattrick during his first stint with the club and while his second stint might not have brought as much success, it was still very good considering the circumstances.

Zidane is without a club at the moment and as reported by The Times, Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit and are working to persuade the French manager to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Zidane could be a brilliant Manchester United manager

The situation surrounding Zidane is hard to judge at the moment. There have been some suggestions that he is not interested in the role. While other rumours have suggested that he is keeping an eye on the Old Trafford situation.

Zidane has been linked with the France national team job and Paris Saint-Germain in recent times as well, as it does not look like there will be any lack of interest in his signature when he decides to make his return to management.

If Manchester United could convince him to take the Old Trafford managerial hot seat, it would be considered as a major coup for the Red Devils. Not only does he have a brilliant record as a manager, but one also has to consider his history with the likes of Ronaldo and Varane.
