Manchester United currently have an incredible group of strikers in their squad, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having likes of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, and Cristiano Ronaldo to pick his frontline from at this point of time.

Amid rumours of Ronaldo joining Manchester City in the summer transfer window, Manchester United almost came out of the blue to secure the signing of the club legend and brought him back to Old Trafford.

With Cavani also penning a one-year extension at the club earlier, Solskjaer now has two of most Europe’s most legendary strikers at Old Trafford at the same time.

But while they appear to be doing well, they are not long-term solutions for the club, with Ronaldo being 36 years of age and Cavani being 34. As a result, it would not be a surprise if Manchester United decided to make a move for a younger striker in the future and one player that they have been heavily linked with is Borussia Dortmund superstar, Erling Haaland.

Bayern Munich legend’s Haaland claim amid Manchester United links

Bayern Munich legend and former club chief, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wrote in his BILD column (as reported by the Mirror):

"“I recently had an espresso with my ex-colleague Aki Watzke in Munich.“He told me that he was very optimistic that Haaland would still play for Borussia Dortmund next season.”"

Watzke is the CEO of Borussia Dortmund. Thus, this could be worrying news for Manchester United as well as several clubs around Europe, who have been linked with Haaland recently.

Other than Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and some other clubs have all been linked with the Norwegian superstar, who could very possibly go on to become one of the best players in the world for the next decade or so.

Of course, we all know how quickly things can change in football. And it is also believed that a release clause will become active in Haaland’s contract next summer. Thus, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him and where he plays his football next season.
