It is hard to judge the situation surrounding Manchester United at the moment. One thing that is for sure though is that they have made a very disappointing start to the season. After signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane over the summer, they were expected to compete in the Premier League title race. It is safe to say that till now, that has not been the case.
In fact, Manchester United sit at sixth in the Premier League table and might struggle to finish in the top four if things don’t improve quickly.
Thus, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in the managerial hot seat for the time being, it is very possible that they might have to make a change at some point in the season. And if that was to happen, Erik ten Hag has been linked with the club as a potential candidate.
As reported by The Sun, a leading agent has been sounding out potential successors to Solskjaer. And there was a cool reception from Ten Hag, who did not want to discuss any hypothetical openings.
Would Ten Hag be a good Manchester United manager?
Ten Hag is one of the most exciting managers in all of Europe right now. He has done a tremendous job at Ajax over the years.
A few years back, he guided the Dutch giants on an unlikely UEFA Champions League semi-finals run. And they are playing some brilliant football in Europe this season as well, having won all four of their group stage games till now.
Thus, someone like Ten Hag is a very interesting name to consider. On one hand, his quality and the work that he has done is undeniable. Not only have his sides produced results but great football at the same time. But on the other hand, he has never managed a top side outside of the Netherlands, and thus, there would be some risk involved with any potential move.
