Manchester United currently possess a lot of talent up front. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side already had the likes of Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford in their ranks before they brought in Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to bolster their squad even further in the summer.

When it comes to the forward department, the Norwegian manager has one of the best rosters in the Premier League, if not the very best. As a result, it is unlikely that Manchester United would try to strengthen there further in the January transfer window.

But, there might be some changes in plans should one or more of their players end up leaving the club in the winter. While Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United appears to be up in the air at the moment, it looks like there is growing interest in Edinson Cavani as well.

As reported by Marca, Edinson Cavani is one player who could prove to be a possible six-month loan option for Barcelona in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Manchester United striker could be an option for Barcelona

After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Cavani joined Manchester United on a free transfer in the summer of 2020. After a slow start, he enjoyed a brilliant second half to the 2020/21 season and the Uruguayan looked like one of the best strikers in the world at one point of time.

As a result, many expected him to be Manchester United’s first choice striker this season before the club ended up bringing back Cristiano Ronaldo.

A combination of injury issues and the presence of Ronaldo have meant that Cavani has not played a lot of football this season for Manchester United and is being linked with a move away from the club. As things stand, his current contract with Manchester United is believed to expire in the summer of 2022.

And while he has not gotten a lot of chances in the first-team this season till now, it does not feel very likely that the club would let him leave on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.
