Paul Pogba’s contract situation at Manchester United has been a topic of discussion for a long time now. The French World Cup winner’s current deal with the club will run out at the end of the current season and if he does not sign an extension by then, he would become a free agent. It is safe to say that the Red Devils would not want that.

Just like most of his Manchester United career, this season has been up and down for Pogba. He started brilliantly, providing four assists against Leeds United in the opening Premier League match of the season, and was tremendous in the first few weeks.

His form has faded away since then though and recently, he has found himself on the bench on a few occasions. But, on top of his game, there is no doubt that he is one of the premier midfielders in world football.

For a while, the rumours have suggested that Pogba is looking to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season and is not looking to extend his contract. But it appears that that is not the truth.

Pogba is still open to signing a contract extension with Manchester United

As reported by the Daily Mail, the player’s inner circle insist that it has been never Pogba’s intention to become a free agent. He remains open to signing an extension.

Of course, a summer exit remains very much a possibility as well with a contract extension not looking near at this point of time.

It is safe to say that Manchester United’s recent performances, which have been nowhere near as expected, could end up playing a huge role in Pogba’s eventual decision.

If he does leave, there is not expected to be any lack of suitors for his signature, with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona already being linked with a potential move.
