Manchester United handed huge double injury worry for Derby
Things are looking up a bit for Manchester United once again but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will know that a bad result against Manchester City will change the mood pretty quickly. Pep Guardiola’s side are coming off of a defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace and sit just three points ahead of the Red Devils. Thus, this could certainly be an interesting game.
Manchester United have quite a few worries going into the game though. The big one, of course, is the unavailability of Raphael Varane. The French World Cup winner picked up an injury in the recent game against Atalanta and is expected to miss around a month of action.
But he might not be the only absentee in the game against Manchester City. There were doubts about Edinson Cavani and Victor Lindelof as well.
And now, as reported by Manchester Evening News, Cavani and Lindelof were not spotted as the squad arrived at the Lowry Hotel on Friday night.
The Manchester United duo could be set to miss the game against Manchester City
This could be a huge blow for Manchester United as both of them could have played big roles against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Lindelof has played a lot of first-team football recently and is very important to Solskjaer’s plans with Varane out injured and especially if he wants to play with three at the back.
On the other hand, Cavani was tremendous against Tottenham Hotspur and his partnership up top with Cristiano Ronaldo has a lot of potential.
With the options that Manchester United have up front, it will be much easier to replace Cavani than Lindelof. If the defender does end up missing the game against Manchester City, the Red Devils might have to move back to a flat back four, a system that has not worked well for them in recent times.
