Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have found a solution to Manchester United’s recent problems, when he used a new formation against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. It was quite a success as the Red Devils picked up a 3-0 win and put in arguably their most dominant performance of the season.
Thus, one would expect Solskjaer to stick with the formation for the foreseeable future, as long as it keeps producing the results.
Three at the back, two wingbacks, two midfielders sitting in a double pivot in front of the defence, an attacking midfielder and two forwards is what Manchester United played with against Tottenham Hotspur.
It is safe to say that that formation appeared to get the best out of quite a few players. But, it might also be bad news for others.
3 Manchester United players who could be the biggest losers from formation change
Here are three Manchester United players who could turn out to be the biggest losers from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new formation:
Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood is the most highly-rated youngster to come through the Manchester United youth ranks in quite some time and it is very impressive what he has been able to do in the first-team already despite turning just 20 years of age not too long ago.
Many have hailed him as one of the best finishers that they have ever seen and he made a very bright start to the 2021/22 campaign as well.
Questions have been raised about his chemistry up front with Cristiano Ronaldo for a while though, and now with the new formation, Greenwood could find minutes hard to come by.
He was regularly playing on the right-wing but that role is not there in this new formation. The only position that he could play here is as one of the two forwards up front. And he could possibly be good in such a role. But for that to happen, he would have to build up an understanding with Ronaldo and also move ahead of the likes of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.
