The 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur must have been a huge relief for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who would have known that his Manchester United future could have very well depended on the result of the game. If it did, his side passed the test with flying colours and it would have lifted a lot of pressure off of the manager’s shoulders for the time being.
But it is clear that there is a lot of work to be done. Manchester United appeared to find great success with their new system of having three at the back and two up front but is this the right one for the squad that they have right now?
Also, this is just one solitary result. A bad result in the upcoming games could see the pressure right back on Solskjaer.
Thus, it might not be a bad idea on the part of Solskjaer to make some additions to his coaching team. And Harry Redknapp believes that Roy Keane could be just the right guy. As reported by talkSPORT, he said:
"“I just think he maybe needs somebody else, a different [character] alongside him in the group to help them.“He looked a lonely figure last week standing on that touchline.“Do you know who’d I take at Manchester United? Everyone’s going to think I’m absolutely mad, but I’d bring in Roy Keane.“If I was Ole I’d think to myself, he won’t mess around and he’ll sort one or two out.”"
Solskjaer told to add Keane to his Manchester United coaching team
Keane certainly knows what it takes to succeed at Manchester United. And he has quite a bit of experience in coaching as well, although his last role as manager came over a decade ago. Since then he has worked as an assistant manager with the Republic of Ireland national team as well as Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Earlier this summer, he was linked with the managerial job at another one of his former sides, Celtic. But that did not materialise. Currently, he is quite popular for his work as a pundit.
The question is, would Solskjaer add Keane to his coaching team? The former Manchester United captain would certainly be a very different character to have and he has quite a bit of experience on his side as well.
