It is safe to say that Manchester United have been linked with quite a few managers over the past few days. There were a lot of rumours that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be sacked after a disappointing start to the season and a 5-0 defeat against Liverpool. But the Norwegian has been given some time to bring things back on track.

One must be prepared for all scenarios though and if results don’t improve soon, it is very possible that the club might decide to make a change in the managerial hot seat.

The likes of Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane have been linked with the job, as would be expected. And so has been Brendan Rodgers, who has done a spectacular job since arriving at Leicester City a few years back. But amongst them, there is another manager potentially in the running for the Manchester United job.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag has admirers at Manchester United as well.

Ten Hag rose to prominence a few years back when he guided Ajax to an unlikely run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and was just moments away from getting them a place in the final as well before Tottenham Hotspur completed a late comeback.

It was an incredible achievement though. The Dutch giants could not make the same impact in Europe the next couple of seasons and understandably so considering how many players departed the club after that incredible campaign. But this season, they are making their mark in the Champions League once again.

But, it goes without saying that there would be some risk associated with potentially appointing Ten Hag. He has not had a top job outside of the Netherlands before this and it goes without saying that Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Thus, the adjustment could be difficult. There could also be a possible language barrier.
