It is safe to say that things are far from ideal at Manchester United right now. After a decent start to the campaign, which saw them even reach the top of the Premier League table at one point of time, the wheels appear to have come off. The Red Devils have lost five of their previous nine games across all competitions.

As a result, naturally questions have been raised about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at the club. And over the past few days, rumours have emerged about several players being unhappy with the current situation.

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be playing a big role behind the scenes, in the Manchester United dressing room, amidst tough times.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Ronaldo is holding the dressing room together and has encouraged teammates to support Solskjaer. He advised the players not to down tools irrespective of what they thought of the manager’s tactics.

Questions have been raised about Ronaldo himself. Since his arrival, Ronaldo has shown that he is still a very capable goalscorer and match winner. But as a whole, the team have appeared to take a step backwards.

It just does not look like they have gelled together since the arrival of the summer signings and the results are reflecting this on the pitch.

For the time being, it does look like Solskjaer will remain the Manchester United manager and it is not hard to see why the club are reluctant to make a change.

Firstly, the Norwegian has done a good job since his appointment and the club have made a lot of progress under his management. Secondly, he has been in the role for nearly three years now and has assembled quite a squad during that period of time. It might be difficult to find another manager whose style of football complements the current Manchester United squad.
