It is safe to say that Paul Pogba’s performance against Liverpool left a lot to be desired. He came on at half-time, had a role in the visitors’ fifth goal and was then sent off on the hour mark. It was a game to forget for the Manchester United midfielder to say the least.

Pogba had made an incredible start to the season, providing four assists against Leeds United in the opening game of their Premier League campaign. And while he remained in great form for the next few weeks, he has appeared to fade away since then.

There is very little doubt though that on his day, he is one of the best midfielders in world football and still one of the most important players in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side.

Thus, his contract situation is a major worry for Manchester United right now, with his current deal running out next summer. And it looks like the Red Devils have been handed a major blow in that regard.

Manchester United have accepted that Pogba will leave on a free transfer

As reported by ESPN, Manchester United are prepared to lose Pogba for free next summer after accepting that he will not sign a new contract with the club.

It goes without saying that this is a huge blow for the Red Devils. There had been suggestions earlier in the season that Pogba might be open to extending his stay with Manchester United but it looks like the situation might have changed since then.

Losing Pogba will be a big blow in itself as he is still a huge part of this team. The fact that he will possibly walk out of Old Trafford as a free agent only makes things even more difficult for the Red Devils, who will definitely need to find a replacement for the French midfield maestro in such a situation.
