Zinedine Zidane is one of the managers whose name has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job if it became available in the near future. While it looks like the club will continue with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for now, they might have no other choice but to make a change in the future if results don’t improve soon.
At this point of time, Manchester United sit at seventh in the Premier League table and are coming off of a historic 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. It is safe to say that they need to improve drastically if they are to challenge for titles this season.
Zidane is someone who knows about taking over struggling teams and turning them into champions. He took over an underperforming Real Madrid side and guided them to three straight Champions League titles.
He also had a second stint at the club but it was not as successful as the first one. Having departed at the end of last season, he is without a club at the moment and thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United have been linked with a potential move for him.
Zidane makes Manchester United decision
As reported by ESPN, Zidane is not interested in managing Manchester United should the Red Devils move on from Solskjaer.
This, of course, is a blow for Manchester United. The club have been linked with a potential move for Antonio Conte as well. And while the Italian is a tremendous manager in his own right, this current squad might be a better fit for Zidane. His incredible history with Cristiano Ronaldo must also be taken into consideration.
Of course, Solskjaer is still the manager of Manchester United and the best case scenario for the club would be for him to turn this season around. They have shown the ability to bounce back from heavy defeats in the past under the Norwegian manager. Let’s see if they can repeat that.
