After a 5-0 defeat against Liverpool, fresh doubts have been raised regarding the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and at this point of time, it looks like the possibility of the Norwegian manager departing Manchester United is very much in play. As Fabrizio Romano tweeted out, a decision on his future is yet to be made but conversations are on.

If Solskjaer is shown the exit door, the big question is, who will become the next manager of Manchester United?

One man whose name has been brought up very often in recent weeks as a potential candidate is Antonio Conte. One of the best managers in world football right now, he is without a club at the moment after having left Inter Milan in the summer.

But would Conte be interested in taking over a team in the middle of the season that was assembled by somebody else and might not suit his style of football? The answer seems to be positive for Manchester United.

Manchester United handed massive Antonio Conte boost

As reported by The Guardian, Conte would be open to discussing taking over at Manchester United if Solskjaer was sacked.

Fabrizio Romano also tweeted out that while Conte is not a fan of joining clubs during a season, the only club that could change his mind right now is Manchester United.

Of course, everything will depend on the decision that the club take regarding Solskjaer. While there is no question about the fact that they have progressed a lot since his arrival, there are doubts about the fact whether he is the right man to take the club forward.

Manchester United have not won a trophy over the past four seasons and the start to this one has not been a positive one either. And while rumours had suggested that the club had complete faith in Solskjaer, the result against Liverpool appears to have opened up conversations regarding his future.
