Paul Pogba had made a sensational start to the season for Manchester United by providing four assists on opening day against Leeds United. And over the following couple of weeks, he was in absolutely incredible form, so much so that he had provided more assists in his first four Premier League appearances this season than he had in several of his campaigns for the club.

The Frenchman has not been able to carry on with that kind of form though and has faded away in recent games.

Against Liverpool, Pogba started on the bench but was brought on at half-time after Manchester United had gone into the break 4-0 down. It is safe to say that his introduction did not have the desired effect.

He was involved in Liverpool’s fifth goal and then ended up getting sent off at the hour mark. Paul Scholes was not impressed with the performance at all and believes Manchester United will not be missing anything if Pogba does not play again for them. As reported by The Sun, he told Premier League Productions:

"“Look, he probably will play [again] won’t he? But I don’t think they will be missing anything if he doesn’t.”"

Pogba’s Manchester United future remains up in the air at the moment

It is safe to say that Pogba’s Manchester United future is up in the air with his current deal set to run out in the summer of 2022. Thus, it is very possible that the Frenchman could walk out of Old Trafford as a free agent.

If that does end up happening, there would not be a lack of suitors for this signature though, as the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and a few others have been linked with the midfield maestro in recent times.

There have been suggestions that he could be open to staying at Manchester United but looking at how the season is unfolding for the Red Devils, you have to question that.
