Manchester United will be heading into one of the most important games of their season when they take on Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Red Devils are coming off of a huge result in midweek when they came from two goals behind to pull off a stunning 3-2 win against Atalanta in the Champions League. But Jurgen Klopp’s side are in terrific form at the moment and could present Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side the toughest test of their campaign till now.

Liverpool were sitting at second, a point behind Chelsea, at the start of the matchweek. But recent results might see them start the game in third, four points behind. Interestingly, they are the only remaining unbeaten team in the Premier League this season till now.

Thus, it is safe to say that Manchester United have a tough task on their hands, which has been made tougher with the recent injury doubts coming out of the Atalanta game.

One of the standout performers on the night was Fred but it looks like he might not be able to feature against Liverpool. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said:

"“I can’t say if Fred will be fit or not. We might have the whole squad fit but may miss two or three. We’ll see.”"

Fred could miss Manchester United’s game against Liverpool

Fred was one of the players who had to be withdrawn late on after going down with a problem and it looks like there is doubt about whether he will be fit in time to feature against Klopp’s Liverpool side.

Fred has received quite a bit of criticism for his recent performances but it is safe to say that he was absolutely brilliant against Atalanta in midweek and one of the biggest reasons why Manchester United were able to turn the game around in the second-half.

He plays an important role in the middle of the park for Solskjaer’s side, which might not be flashy but is very much needed. And as a result, his availability will be a worry for the Red Devils heading into the big game.
