At the age of 36, most players are already retired, considering retirement or playing nowhere near their peaks. That is certainly not the case with Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo though as he continues to perform at the very top level despite the fact that he will turn 37 a few months later.

When Ronaldo returned to Manchester United this summer, many had questioned whether he could still get it done in the Premier League. It is safe to say that he definitely can and has already shown that this season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ronaldo has scored 6 goals in 8 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United this season.

And at this point of time, he is not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. But he was recently asked whether he would consider retiring from the Portugal national team in order to extend his club career. As reported by Sky Sports, Ronaldo said:

"“But why? I think it’s not my time yet.“It’s not what people want, it’s what I want. It’s when I feel that I’m not capable to run, to dribble, to shoot, if the power is gone… but I still have that stuff so I want to continue because I’m still motivated.“It’s the main word – [motivated] to do my stuff, to make people happy and my family happy and the fans and myself. I want to put the level even higher.”"

Ronaldo has made a brilliant start to his second stint at Manchester United

Ronaldo recently broke the record for the most international goals in history and continues to find the back of the net for the Portugal national team consistently. But most fans expect the 2022 World Cup to be his last. It remains to be seen how things unfold in that regard.

When it comes to Manchester United, he has made a sensational start to his second stint at the club. He had already established himself as a club legend during his first stint at the Theatre of Dreams and is now only building upon that legacy.

To be honest, there is no reason for Ronaldo to consider retirement at this point of time. He is going strong at both club and international level and as long as that is the case and he is enjoying himself, he should continue playing at both levels.
