Manchester United’s current squad is easily one of the deepest and strongest in world football. That is why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been able to navigate through so many injuries early on in the season. It is also the reason that the club have had to send out quite a few players out on loan, in order to get some playing time or experience.

Rumours had suggested that the club had tried to get a permanent exit done for Andreas Pereira this summer but when that was not on the cards, he was sent out on loan to Flamengo.

That move has certainly worked out for Pereira. After struggling for the past few seasons, he looks like a completely different player at Flamengo and has been able to showcase his talents.

And Solskjaer’s recent comments appear to suggest that he could still have a future with Manchester United. As reported by the Mirror, the manager told TNT Sports:

"“You know, at a certain stage of a player’s career, it’s important that you play enough at a high level. Last year, Andreas went on loan, he didn’t play enough.“The season before, he played a lot for us, but then we signed Bruno. And I’m happy for him now and I’ll see him soon.”"

The Manchester United player appears to have found his feet at Flamengo

Pereira spent the previous season on loan with Lazio and did not play regular football there. But he took a completely different challenge this time around by moving to Brazilian side Flamengo and till now, the decision is certainly looking like a good one.

Pereira had been one of the most highly-rated youngsters coming through the Manchester United academy but could not quite get it going at the senior level till now.

The move to Flamengo appears to have revived Pereira’s career though and he has even found success in a different role, further down the pitch as part of a midfield duo.

Thus, if not anything, this experience has opened up quite a few different doors for Pereira when it comes to his future. And it will be interesting to see if he can continue to perform like this throughout the course of the season.
