The upcoming game between Manchester United and Liverpool will be very important for both sides. At the moment, they find themselves in very different positions. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have struggled at the start of the campaign and will be looking to use their recent 3-2 comeback win against Atalanta as a platform to bounce back. On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp’s side are flying right now and will be looking to carry on with that momentum.
At this point of time, Manchester United sit at sixth in the Premier League table while Liverpool sit at second. Thus, this is a chance for Solskjaer’s side to rise up the table while also cutting down the gap between themselves and Klopp’s side to just one point.
Manchester United have their fresh injury issues going into the game, with there being doubts about the availability of Bruno Fernandes.
On the other hand, Liverpool’s official website have confirmed that the fixture will come too soon for Thiago Alcantara, who is still recovering from his calf problem.
Manchester United need to get a positive result against Liverpool
There is no doubt about the fact that the win against Atalanta was a huge result for Solskjaer. But a defeat in the following game would just see them take one step backwards.
Thus, it is important for Manchester United to get a result out of this game. Even a draw would be considered as a positive at the moment.
Liverpool will certainly head into this game as the favourites, as they are in terrific form as a team and Mohamed Salah is playing some of the best football of his career at the moment.
But as we have seen so many times in the past, it is as the underdogs that this Manchester United side appear to perform at their best. Hopefully, the upcoming game will turn out to be another example of that.
