Manchester United star deserves to play more this season

Manchester United have one of the deepest and most complete squads in world football right now. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that there are quite a few players at the club who have not got a lot of playing time this season.

As a result, some of these players could end up leaving the club in the not too distant future, either on a loan in order to gain more experience and develop or on a permanent basis.

One player who has not played the amount of minutes that he is expected to be looking for is Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder was one of the most highly-rated young players in all of football when he was signed by Manchester United. But it is safe to say that he has not had a great time at Old Trafford.

His first season at the club left a lot to be desired as he failed to make his mark in the first-team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 36 appearances and featured for 1456 minutes, scoring once and assisting twice across all competitions last season.

Van de Beek deserves to play more often for Manchester United

It is safe to say that his first season with the club was not up to the mark. But, it must be pointed out that it was his first season in England and a lot of great players have struggled in their first campaigns in the Premier League.

He has also undergone a bit of a physical transformation since then and looks more ready for the physicality of English football now.

On top of everything else, he has impressed whenever he has been on the pitch this season even though chances have been hard to come by till now. As a result, he does deserve more minutes on the pitch to prove himself this time around. And if then it does not work out, a move away from Manchester United would very much be on the cards.
